That which hath gone before | That which followeth

If you want to know what they're up to in this latest attack on the powerless, underprivileged and vulnerable, I suggest you listen to John Finnemore's blistering attack on the proposals in last night's edition of The Now Show on Radio 4: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0214336/The_Now_Show_Series_40_Episode_4/

And, in addition to the petition at 38 Degrees, http://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-legal-aid-say-no-to-cut-price-justice, there is also a UK Government petition to sign: https://submissions.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/48628

*nods* I just listened again to the Now Show this morning. Perfect.

He's brilliant.

I read the response on the petition, and I really think someone ought to teach those who tout the 'value for money' line that value and cheapest really do not equate ~ take it from one who has had to try and balance the two for too many years now.

Hm, do you think a mere week of lunches made from supermarket so called Value and Budget ranges in a basic cafeteria would teach them the difference?

Oh if only one could do that...

It's repeated on Saturdays, so heard it in car on way back from buying apple press for i_g's birthday (can't use it till probably October, but still). Brilliant. As was the middle-lane-hogger song.

Hee! I'm planning on getting an apple press for Mr D for his birthday! Which one did you get?

And we still need to plan to get together again, if you still want to. I'm sorry - I've been very disorganised of late.

Improbably, one from Machine Mart - the smaller one because they are damned expensive. It seems solid enough, now that we've got it out of the box.

How about the first weekend in July?

I'm going to be away then. Sorry.

Are you free in June at all? Though the 22nd is the school fete and the 29th will probably be #2's birthday party.

Fraid not. i_g's birthday followed by his brother's next w/e; work barbecue here (and prior cooking/weeding) next, then visitors staying for last weekend. Help - when am I supposed to write lectures for summer school I'm lecturing on? I should stop reading fanfic and do some work.

How about the last weekend in July?

Done. Punting & barbecue?
Jun. 8th, 2013 05:34 pm (UTC)
Fantastic! I've put it in the calendar - the Saturday, right?

Fuck me! This was awesome! John Finnemore is a genius.

I harbor a secret desire to see him and John Stewart together. Though I think they style of comedy is different, their ability to use humor to attack the absurdity of legislation and prejudice is inspiring.

Yes, he really is a genius.

And angry one.

Hi! I just tried to send a message to suggest we friend each other here, but your privacy options wouldn't let me! Anyway, I would like to friend you as, having read your IJ profile, I think we might get on. Also, I prefer to ask first, as I don't like friending out of the blue.

Sure. :-) I didn't know I had a locked account (?), but I'll double check and have added you.
